Our business is cars,
not new technology. However, a machine that improves shop productivity is
very valuable to us. My mechanics say they are spending less time cleaning
parts and more quality time fixing cars. They report they are each saving
at least 15 minutes daily by using clean mineral spirits to clean parts.
With a labor rate of $67 per hour, SystemOne will give us a minimum productivity
earnings of approximately $7,000 per machine per year.
Every one of my service
technicians enjoys having clean mineral spirits everyday. Having good shop
morale and keeping my technicians happy is a plus for me.
The elimination of hazardous
waste by using your washer gives the owners a big sigh of relief . The small
amount of non-hazardous residue remaining after a few weeks of cleaning parts
is just simply disposed of with our other used oil. We have completely eliminated
out solvent waste stream.

Dear Paul:
I wanted to thank you
for affording me the opportunity to become intimately knowledgeable about
your product line which, as you know, led to a complete due diligence effort
on my part. After investigating other alternative parts washing equipment
and receiving rave reviews on your SystemOne units from our department heads
of New Technology, Maintenance and Environmental, Health and Welfare,
respectively, I was anxious to analyze costs of our current antiquated equipment,
project costs for the new SystemOne equipment based on our extensive and
lengthy testing period and finally, tabulate the actual cost savings after
a 6 month implementation period.
During October 1997, our
Florida divisions that were free of existing contractual obligations made
an initial order of 41 units. Upon expiration of these preexisting contracts,
I expect additional orders to reach a total of 70 units. Based on the actual
savings that have been achieved after these first 6 months, I am very proud
and pleased to tell you that we have achieved an annualized savings of $6,108
per unit which will amount to $427,616 per year for the 70 units. This measure
of savings includes both hard costs and productivity savings and assumes
a five-year life. Any equipment that remains in use after 5 years will save
an additional $1,637 per unit per year. Other cost savings not accounted
for are the time avoidance associated with preparing waste manifests and
potential liability for the storing and transportation of hazardous
materials.
I have to admit that when
your staff first approached me, I was reluctant to believe that such savings
could be achieved. In fact, I did not even have parts washing equipment on
my purchasing radar screen until 1999. I look forward to the continued rollout
of your equipment into the remaining areas of our organization in need which
I estimate to be between 1,250 and 1,500 units. The kind of savings exhibited
to date dictates the need to accomplish this by the end of the current
year

machines. Our business has grown over the past two years, so the additional
17 machines are a welcome addition to our busy service and parts

the SystemOne units now installed at all nine (9) of our Detroit Diesel branches
here in Florida are doing a great job. They are everything they were represented
to be, and more. Our technicians save time by having clean fluid to use all
of the time. Our cleaning quality has been improved. Our repair quality also
increases with cleaner internal parts for assembly.
Our waste stream has been
reduced to non-hazardous for this cleaning solvent system and the waste residue
is nothing more than used oil. We no longer deal with second party vendors

a soap and water base or enzyme cleaner. As we all know soap and water is
for good for washing hands, not dirty oily parts; might do a good job in

I am writing to let you
know how happy we are with SystemOne parts washer that we purchased. At first,
we were skeptical, but with the rigorous (actually, abusive) testing that
we have done, I am convinced that this machine will provide the EVA positive
value that we projected when justifying its purchase.
We tried to make this
machine fail with all of the coal dust, dirt, grease and oil that we introduced
to it. The machine keeps working the way you said it would and provides us
with clean solvent when we want it. Clean solvent makes our people more
efficient. In fact, clean 143 solvent cleans better and than even slightly
dirty 105 solvent and it doesn't leave a tramp oil firm.
Recently, we had a visit
from the EPA and I immediately showed them the SystemOne machine and how
it eliminated a hazardous waste stream. It certainly made it easy to discuss
my source reduction strategy. I look forward to replacing all of our general
parts washers to SystemOne washers when our existing parts washer service
contract is up. I thank you for your help and follow-up. As I told you before,
the SystemOne units are going to be an integral part of my personal goal
of having my facilities reclassified as "conditionally exempt small quantity
generators".
